This amazing fruit spread is made with the same recipe Grandma used on the original Conrad Farms homestead. Jam refers to a product made of whole fruit cut into pieces or crushed, then heated with water and sugar until it reaches the "jelling" or "setting" point, which is achieved through the action of natural added pectin. It is then sealed in containers.
Jam-making became "a great new industry" in the 19th century. Here in the south Jams are popular and used for many recipes and dishes.
